| The Road of Life Pendant |

This piece was inspired by the bumpy road that people with mental illnesses and their families sometimes have to travel. While the path is often rough with the occasional pothole, the journey is always a precious one. The material I chose to work with is reticulated silver. The silver starts off as a flat sheet. When heat from a torch is applied to the silver, it begins to rise in unpredictable peaks and valleys. The interesting part of this process is that there is no way to make two just alike. To me, this is very much like the road of life. Nobody's journey is the same, but is always beautiful.
