Crisis Intervention ServicesCRISISline serves the community through a 24-hour support line by providing active listening, information and resource referral, and crisis intervention/suicide prevention in a safe, confidential, nonjudgmental forum. TEENline, a companion program of CRISISline, is available for youth. Teen volunteers answer the phone from 5 to 9 pm Monday through Friday. After-hours coverage is through CRISISline. SOS is a support group for adults who have lost a loved one to suicide and would like the comfort and understanding of others who have suffered a similar loss. SOS provides programs and services including a monthly support group, support team visits, 8 week closed grief group for adults, youth and children, and a resource center for suicide prevention and aftercare. Reassurance Line connects clients of local community mental health centers through a peer-to-peer support line. Consumer employees call other consumers to support and empower them in their recovery. Community Education (Health)Promoting positive mental health, conquering the stigma of mental illness and providing education about its symptoms and treatment requires active participation in our community. MHA offers a speakers’ bureau, best practice suicide prevention trainings, awareness campaigns, confidential mental health screenings, information and referral, lending library, and interactive mental wellness programs for adults and youth. Social and Recreation Services/Direct Patient ServicesOperation Santa Claus, an annual gift collection project, distributes basic needs items to adults with chronic mental illness and needy youth in treatment being treated for emotional problems. Representative Payee Program provides stability through financial management services for mental health center who need this support to assist with independent living. Mental Health PlanningWork to identify and solve mental health problems in the community and delivery system through examination of current policies and procedures. Through communication with community, state-wide agencies, and advocacy groups, relevant mental health issues are addressed and responded to with solutions. Housing development initiatives began through this process. |
