I supoort MHAGC and the run because they have many wonder programs. They have the rep payee program that helps people with disabilities manage their money so they don't run out to fast. They have Operation Santa that assist those may not get anything for Christmas a little something and this hopefully helps to brighten their holiday. They have Survivors of Suicide which is a program for someone who has lost someone to suicide. They have a crisis line & teen line that is for anyone experiencing whatever they feel is a crisis and needs someone to listen to them (though they are not professional counselors).

Mental illness is the most overlooked and under financed chronic disease in America. Mental illnesses can be managed, and people do recover from these disorders, but only about 60% of people with mental illness get treatment each year. This is due to the stigmatization on mental illness, lack of education, and unavailability of treatment. The more support organizations like Mental Health America of Greenville County get, the sooner these obstacles go away.

I support Mental Health America of Greenville County because it stands for something great. Promoting positive awareness for those with mental health needs and gathering resources for those who need it is one of the most selfless things a person or organization can do. The Colors 4 Hope run is a great way to get the community involved. Whether a person likes to walk or run or just participate in something that can mean so much for someone else, it's a great way to get out there and let people know what's going on.

I owe my life to Greenville and their mental health awareness. I was a patient at Carolina behavioral health center and without it's support and love I wouldn't be here sharing my story. There is a stigma wilth mental health and I want to be apart of beating that stigma and sharing love to others the way love was shared to me !

I am involved with MHAGC because of the resources listed here and found throughout our website. But I’m proud to say that I am involved with MHAGC in order to make a difference. And for me, it’s personal. My wife grew up in a home where mental illness was present. Because no one talked about it, many things were overlooked and shame was associated with much of her childhood. Many questions were left unresolved because it was just “something you don’t talk about.” Helping to remove the stigma around mental illness and increase the awareness of the services our community offers for those who suffer is why I am involved with Mental Health America. It truly is a way for me to help bring wellness home, not just home to our community, but into the homes of the people we call friends, neighbors and family.

I am doing the Colors 4 Hope walk/run in memory of my father who committed suicide when I was just 11 months old. I hope that the services that are provided by the people at Mental Health America of Greenville County can help another family not have to live through the tragedy of losing a loved one to suicide.

I started at MHAGC as a volunteer for the hotline and had the privilege to be a small part of an agency who helps over 10,000 people a year who are in crisis and saves lives. Over the years as my role in the agency changed I got to see how valuable every positive interaction is with those who are affected by mental illness. The Reassurance Line makes over 11,000 calls annually to connect with individuals daily to help keep them stable in their environment. The Representative Payee program helps decrease the distress and manage the monies for those who are disabled by mental illness. It helps them maintain their independent living and prioritize treatment. Each year MHAGC educates and works on behalf of the 1 in 4 of us affected by mental illness and I am proud to be a part of it. I'm grateful for your help!

MHAGC is a caring and effective organization that is making a difference in Greenville County. They provide services, like support hotlines and housing for our family members and friends who suffer from mental illness. It's critical that this organization remains solvent and well-funded. Because the alternative -- losing the programs and services MHAGC provides -- is too costly.

Since that time I have become involved in Survivors of Suicide, a support group for those grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide. This is just one of the many groups organized and supported by MHA Greenville. From prevention and crisis services to grief groups such as this, MHA is very active in Greenville County and surrounding areas. Please consider donating so that others may benefit from the services provided by this essential non-profit organization.

I support Mental Health America of Greenville County because they offer services that help or direct people where to get help immediately. MHAGC has a Crisisline to help those who need to speak with a live person immediately. They have saved many lives from suicide. They help direct people to agencies who can help them with their issues and where to get help. They listen to the teenage girl whose boss took advantage of her and her friends have turned their back. They help people like me who are Survivors of Suicide come to terms and have peace from losing a loved one. The new Text Teenline is available to help our young people to deal with and cope from being bullied so they can move forward to be productive teens,. This organization offers so much for our community dealing with Mental Health and they need our help. Please contribute to the Colors4Hope campaign so MHAGC can continue helping our family members, friends and community. I haven't touched all the areas that MHAGC provides services. PLEASE DONATE TO MY CAMPAIGN.

I, like many of my friends, have lost parents, children, siblings and friends to a myriad of mental illness. I have witnessed people close to me struggling with many types of illness; from depression to the shock of my cousin's husband murdering her and their 11 year old daughter and then committing suicide. I cannot think of anything that would be more worthy of my efforts and support.
