Operation Santa Claus is one of Mental Health America of Greenville County’s longest-running and cherished programs. On July 16th, donors and recipients gathered to celebrate its lasting impact on the community. The event highlighted the importance of community support, featuring heartfelt stories from program beneficiaries and advocates like Von Reynolds, who spoke about the needs of our unhoused neighbors.

MHAGC’s Executive Director, Jennifer Piver, shared the remarkable growth of Operation Santa Claus over the years, underscoring how contributions directly help provide holiday gift bags to individuals living with chronic mental health conditions. Attendees left inspired by the difference their generosity makes. As the 2024 campaign kicks off, MHAGC is excited to continue spreading joy and support to the community.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, the importance of community support has never been clearer. This year’s goal is to provide 520 bags of personal care items and holiday cheer to those in need across four counties. This significant undertaking depends heavily on donations. Individuals and organizations can join us by donating full-sized toiletries, such as body wash, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, or personal items like fanny packs, wristlets, journals, and pens. MHAGC is deeply grateful for the steadfast support of community partners, such as Woodcreek Dental, Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands, and New Hope Baptist Church, who help every year by collecting items or hosting drop-off boxes. For convenience, donations can also be made through our Amazon Wish List.

Collections will continue through Thanksgiving, after which we will begin the final tasks of sorting, stuffing, and delivering the gift bags. A dedicated team of social workers, our very own “elves,” will ensure these gifts of comfort and joy reach our neighbors in need, spreading holiday warmth and care to those in most need of our support.
