Where we’ve been and where we’re going

We closed 2024 with hope—and stepped into 2025 with strength. That strength carried us through a year defined by growth, connection, and an unwavering commitment to our community, and it continues to guide us as we look ahead to 2026.
Throughout 2025, Mental Health America of Greenville County worked every day toward a clear goal: ensuring every call is answered. More than 54,000 people reached out to SC’s 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline this year, trusting us in moments when connection mattered most. In response, we are expanding our capacity in our chat and text services, meeting people where they are and how they feel safest reaching out.
Our work extended far beyond the call center. We strengthened partnerships with community agencies to expand our Reassurance Line, offering a consistent, compassionate connection to individuals who need ongoing support. We also opened our doors to new residents in our housing programs—providing not just shelter, but stability, dignity, and care. Our Representative Payee program continues to offer steady, reliable support to individuals navigating complex financial systems, helping ensure basic needs are met with respect and continuity.

Connection was especially visible during the holiday season. Through Operation Santa Claus, and thanks to the generosity of our community partners, we provided more than 400 holiday gift bags to individuals living with chronic mental illness—small gestures that carried comfort, dignity, and a reminder that they are not forgotten.
We also remained a steady presence for those navigating grief. Our Survivors of Suicide Loss support group continued to offer compassionate fellowship, understanding, and a safe space for healing—walking alongside individuals and families on a journey no one should have to take alone.
Even amid this growth, our focus on quality was steadfast. In 2025, we launched our new Mission and Values, grounding our work in empathy, collaboration, and holistic well-being. We invested in our team by introducing CliftonStrengths into our daily work, strengthening relationships, communication, and the way we support one another—because caring for our staff strengthens the care they provide.
This year also gave us time to reflect and celebrate. We marked the 10th anniversary of our benefit golf Tournament and honored the 70th anniversary of our agency, milestones that speak to decades of trust, impact, and community support. Through expanded outreach and increased education—including QPR suicide prevention training—we welcomed new partnerships and deepened existing relationships across the Upstate.
Now, at the beginning of 2026, we look forward with confidence. There is more good to do, more calls to answer, more support to provide, and more connections to build. Together—with our partners, supporters, and community—we will continue to grow ever stronger.
Because our past and our future tell the same story: Strength begins with connection.
